Amrut 100 Peated Single Cask #945 (LMDW Exclusive)

Style: Rich and Sweet

Rating: ☆☆ [Highly Recommended]

Nose:

Gentle, glowing spearmint spice escorts sweet and warm tobacco leaves in. Menthol brimming with a subtle-but-steady herbal overtone. Fragrant tropical fruits stewing with peated malt threaded in comfortably. A bit of intriguing mozzarella cheese aroma towards the end.

Palate:

Delicate, round cherry tobacco leaves sweetness on the palate, reminds me a bit of Shisha. A growing horn of menthol spice which gives a nice herbal ring. More mozzarella shredding on top of toffee apples, malt with wood spice faintly illuminating. Peat takes over towards the end with soft minerals and smoke. Vibrant and beautifully layered.

Finish:

Fruit punch made of stew fruits with a lace of peat smoke. Soft and savouring.

Thoughts:

Thoughts: Rich and round body growing a pair of herbal horns and a peaty tail, Amrut has done wonders again! Very special dram. Unique spirit makes a unique profile with brilliantly constructed layers. I blind-tasted this and could never have guessed it is a virgin oak finish. It tasted a bit different to what I thought virgin oak influence would be... this is something extraordinary even by Amrut‘s high standards. Intense, bright flavours while maintaining a beautiful balance and complexity, wicked!
