Rating System
No scores. Just honest words — and the occasional star. You will not find points out of 100 here: a number can feel precise, but it rarely tells you what a whisky is actually like. Instead, every review is written the same way — Nose / Palate / Finish / Thoughts — a full, sincere description of what is in the glass, one dram at a time. The words carry the verdict.
When a bottle genuinely stands out, it earns a mark in the title:
☆ [Recommended] — a bottle I would happily pour again and suggest to a friend without hesitation. Distinctly above the crowd.
☆☆ [Highly Recommended] — exceptional. A bottle that delivers something special — depth, balance, character — and is worth actively seeking out.
No mark — a perfectly honest review of a whisky that did not quite earn a star. Many good drams live here; read the Thoughts.
Every review ends with the full bottling specifications in brackets — strength, vintage, cask type, cask number and outturn — so you always know exactly which bottle the notes refer to.
