Style: Fruity and Malty
Rating: ☆ [Recommended]
Nose:
Lemon custard and aloe vera dancing on the nose. Sticky Semillon, peppermint, nutmeg followed by the massive malt biscuit and carrot cake. Nice and rich. On the fruity side, we have Mandarin extract and fresh apples flowing on a spicy edge.
Palate:
Sweet white grapes condensing on the front, botrytis-esque and then we have an explosion of fruitiness. Apples and tangerine with a touch of clove oil. Vanilla custard dressing on top of lemon sponge cake. Aloe vera finding its way back and we finish with malt syrup.
Finish:
Nice balance of malt, sweet California grapes and dry spices. Very good.
Thoughts:
Too bad this is a sample tasting and the portion was tiny. Wish I can have more so I can get a better picture of this. Fruity and malty in general, but nicely balanced by the drier elements. Splendid blast of fruits and lingering sweetness which makes you want to come back for more. Edging very close to 2 star territory. A less-known distillery, but this is definitely worth getting a bottle.
