Nose:

Extraordinary dense aroma, orange and lemon confectionaries leading the charge. Assorted fruit jell-o, lime cordial, coal ember sparkles, tobacco leaves. Fragrant pomelo and sugar plums bonding beautifully with the distillate wax. Spearmint and camphor overtone with acidic acetone underlays encasing a mystic malt within - slightly murky, sometimes meaty, quite sugary and packed with vanilla notes. Very nice.

Palate:

The density remains, but with more clarity on the palate. The Brora signatures are more tightly knitted together and put their weight on a spicy edge which sinks in deeply. The explosion of citrus fruits, especially grapefruits, is simply magnificent - perfect sweetness and texture. More bright citrus, tar, smoke, plums, raisins, peppercorns, funky minerals and vanilla cake all orbit around the surprisingly dry barley core. Camphor and red chillies rest at the base, with menthol notes vaporising into thin air.

Finish:

Raisins and a scattered barley trail. Liquorice and light peat stains. More red fruits and waxy notes boiling in reflux. Long and delicious.

Thoughts:

I am a Brora fan boy, and probably forever will be. The intensity, density, complexity and flavour burst of Brora are still almost unmatched. Not my favourite Brora of all time, but this is already of very high quality. Let’s just say I am a lucky man to be able to drink a bottle of this in 2023.
