Springbank Aged 21 Years Single Cask

Style: Fruity and Malty

Nose:

A quick whiff of dunnage sulphur at the head, which quickly dissipates into ruby grapes and pomegranate juice. Free-flowing golden malt, purple bubblegum, compressed red fruits unwinding from the bottom and filling up the space with sweet aroma. Peppermint, granites with peat smoke seeped into it. Sweet and clean. •

Palate:

More dunnage, followed by red fruits and golden malt performing a nice acapella duet. Nothing too complicated, but it is comfortable with plenty of breathing spaces for the elements to unfold. Cranberries, smoky lollies and more grape juice riding on a tropical undercurrent - mostly pineapples, passion fruits and coconuts. Red cherries continue to resonate at the back, whispers of barley sugar to finish.

Finish:

Silky red fruits blended with a little bit of malt, cinnamon sugar, plums and more grape juice flowing till the end.

Thoughts:

Other than the quick flash of sulphur at the head, there isn't much I can complain about on this Springbank. It is probably not as strong or complex as some of its single cask counterparts, but there is a clean and pleasant synergy building between the sherry fruits and malt, well, sometimes simple is good. Sweet and comfy. Quite enjoyable. •
