Springbank Local Barley Aged 16 Years

Style: Honey and Creamy

Rating: ☆☆ [Highly Recommended]

Nose:

Starts with a mix of dry herbal, mint and chilli spices on the nose. Followed by gentle hay smoke stacked on lemon tart and vinegar for a touch of acidity. I have to let it breathe for a while here… Slowly Manuka honey treading in, vanilla malt. Cool and dry with a quick mineral flick.

Palate:

Stunning palate. Pure manuka honey presented in the form of whisky, absolutely wicked. Perfect sweetness and creaminess melting softly like syrup and butter softening on warm pancakes. Honey dissolves and generates more lemon tart and lime ice tea sweetness onto the palate. Hay peat smoke slowly unwinding, mint and little slices of cucumbers garnished on the side to give a balancing touch. Excellent.

Finish:

Honey pouring over fresh apricots and nectarines, peat smoke undertone stays around. Satisfying finish.

Thoughts:

Thoughts: The nose is probably a tad shy but then what follows is absolutely sensational. What an immaculate palate we have here!!! The sweetness, the texture, the representation, the complexity, are all so perfect. I will stop here and start pouring myself more - it is a whisky to drink before you die.
