The Whisky Agency 10th Anniversary Springbank 1993 Aged 25 Years

Style: Fruity, oaky and slightly smoky

Nose:

Round, stewed apricots and stone fruits leading the way, which is then carefully sealed with a beautiful layer of honey aloe Vera. Sandalwood oil, paperboard in a timber shed. Ambers radiating softly from distance, green herbs spice taking a slight alcohol edge. Fruits continue to shine brilliantly from the core, hay smoke circling loosely around it. Overall a soft, sonorous and satisfying tone.

Palate:

Stewed tropical and stone fruits combine and unwind silkily on the palate. A soft Bourbon cask-esque creamy touch carefully applied around it. Frail smoke flickering, while green herbs striding through with a certain swagger. Peppermint, fennel and other culinary herbs puts in a strong medicinal drive. Glazed pineapples, honey aloe vera returns, oak sinks in with some timber wood and saw dust gathering for a slight bitter finish.

Finish:

An okay aftertaste, think wood planks and pencil shavings. Slowly the bitterness disperse, stewed fruits, pears and agar agar finally shine through.

Thoughts:

From my understanding this Springbank is a private stock and it is bottled to celebrate the tenth year anniversary of the famous independent bottler - The Whisky Agency. A splendid bourbon cask which provides a tad of creaminess to round the stewed fruits up very nicely. Maybe the tail fades off a bit too fast and the oak sinks in too quickly, but overall the rhythm and composure are fantastic. A pretty great drop.
